Prospect Weekly: Opportunity Knocks

Nicolas Meloche scored his first professional goal and added an assist in a 5-3 loss to the San Jose Barracuda last week. Mason Geertsen getting tossed out of the game and subsequently suspended three games for a flagrant elbow is what opened the door for Meloche to see more ice time in both this game and then later in during the weekend. It’s too bad that it took an Avalanche prospect’s removal from the lineup to make it happen. In the goal seen below, Meloche uses his offensive instincts to jump into the play and his nice wrist shot to finish it off.

AJ Greer scored his fourth goal in four consecutive games before missing the weekend with what was determined to be a minor lower body injury. Meloche began the play getting the puck up ice as not pictured here.

JC Beaudin was doing work for the Eagles last week¬†before he was called up to San Antonio. Four goals in two games must have got someone’s attention. Here’s the last two in a 3-2 win over Greenville.

CHL Update:

The Greyhounds have now won 12 straight with an incredible record of 21-3-2. This is their year to really make some noise.
