In the history of the Colorado Avalanche there has only been one player that has chosen to wear number 88, although Joe Sakic briefly sported it as a Quebec Nordiques before changing to Number 19 so that Eric Lindros would be able to wear it.
Peter Mueller (47 GP, 16G, 20A, 64 PIM)
Peter Mueller was born in 1988 in Minnesota. The 6’2″ centerman was drafted 8th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. During the 2009-2010 season Mueller asked to be traded from the Coyotes. He was traded, along with Kevin Porter to the Colorado Avalanche for Wojtek Wolski. That season he laced up his skates for 15 games for the Colorado Avalanche, he had 9 goals and 11 assists. It earned him a 2 year deal with the Avs. On April 4th Mueller has hit a devastating blow by former Avalanche defenseman Rob Blake. That hit left Mueller with a concussion. Mueller healed during the offseason, but was hit again in the preseason and suffered another concussion. He missed the entire 2010-2011 season due to post-concussion symptoms. The next year he dressed in 32 games for the Colorado Avalanche and had 7 goals and 9 assists. The Avalanche decided not to re-sign him and, instead, he signed with the Florida Panthers as a free agent. After his time in Florida, he moved onto to play in Europe where he remains today.
